The non-parliamentary opposition expects the Parliament head to discuss the upcoming election issues. Prior to meeting with Davit Usupashvili, one of the leaders of the “New Right-wing” party, Mamuka Katsitadze,
refrained from releasing a comment over the leading party’s offer as per which each a party having swept at least 3 percent of constituency in the elections will receive half a million in compensation.
“Tomorrow we expect the Coalition to answer all existing questions regarding the forthcoming elections. So, at this point I am restraining from making hasty conclusions. Against the backdrop of those processes taken place in the inter-fractional group, evaluating some particular issues or topics that are at this point taken out of context can not be a rational step. This is simply an attempt from the Georgian Dream to galvanize the political parties to focus on bait thrown in their direction,” Mr Katsitadze said.
Tomorrow, the opposition hopes to get exhaustive information regarding the election system issue as well as such matters such as the election barrier, free commercial time within the election campaign, verification of the voter list at different polling stations etc.
According to the election legislation, during the parliamentary as well as presidential elections, the parties will receive compensation of a million GEL. Today, the law on granting a half million compensation to the parties that prove able to get over the 3 per cent election barrier has been pushed to the top of the government’s agenda.
