Tbilisi government is still working without the budget 2014 after the city assembly did not adopt the draft budget presented by the Tbilisi mayor`s office for confirmation yesterday.
It was the second attempt to adopt the budget; however, the document was not supported by the majority again. Mayor`s designate Sevdia Ugrekhelidze announced in TV interviews yesterday that the mayor`s office would begin to work on a new budget draft of 2014. She said the new `flawless` budget will be drafted together with the residents of Tbilisi; however, she failed to say when the document would be ready for adoption.
Meanwhile, the City Council is still waiting for a new draft budget after yesterday`s failure to adopt the previous one for the second time. Majority says the corrections made to the draft by the government were not satisfactory this time either. The government has one month to adopt the 2014 municipal budget; if the majority and the opposition fail to agree on the document, the both will be suspended authorities and a federal governance will be enforced.
