National Movement not to attend Presidential inauguration
National Movement will not attend the presidential inauguration, the statement in party's official web-page says.
“After the 27 October Presidential elections the presidential candidate of United National Movement Davit Bakradze congratulated the Georgian Dream candidate on his victory. We expressed respect to the voters and made a step in compliance with the civilized standards of political life. Unfortunately, after the elections, in his first public statement, the president-elect Giorgi Margvelashvili declared that he wouldn’t cooperate with the opposition, and the Prime Minister Ivanishvili humiliated the United National Movement voters accusing them of low political culture. we reaffirm our respect to all the voters, respect to the state institutions, but in such terms, when the winning political power is possessed by the desire of confrontation and not unification, when our employees remain illegally imprisoned, including the party’s secretary general and thousands of supporters are questioned and are under political pressure, we consider attending the formal ceremony of inauguration is impossible”- tells the statement.
