We have not had any negotiations neither during being in the coalition nor after leaving it, - Kakha Shartava, one of the leaders of the National Forum, said in response to National Movement member Giorgi Baramidze’s statement, according to which, there were negotiations about unification of Free Democrats, National Movement, National Forum and Republicans in the parliament.
“It seems that our harmless proposal caused anxiety. The National Movement is trying to create a certain precondition for the second round of the elections, though in vain. I must remind you that our proposal concerned not negotiations with parties, but with certain individuals who think that something new and powerful must be done through joint efforts.
The National Movement leaders, who claim that such talks were held with us, are very far from the reality,"- said Kakha Shartava.
According to National Movement member Giorgi Baramidze, there was an attempt to replace the parliamentary majority by uniting the National Movement, National Forum, Republicans and Free Democrats. He said that the Republican Party was one of the parties that opposed the abovementioned idea.
“There was a chance to form a new configuration in the parliament. There were discussions about removing Ivanishvili from the government and replacing the situation in the parliament. However, at the end, we could not come to an agreement and one of the parties which opposed this idea was the Republican Party. There had not been official consultations, but there were chances for it. Unfortunately, we missed the chance”, - Baramidze said.
