I prefer to be punished rather than rewarded for wrong steps, - Parliament Speaker Davit Usupashvili told the Kviris Palitra newspaper.

According to him, the Republican Party was punished for disobedience to Bidzina Ivanishvili.

"Of course, we were punished for disobedience to Bidzina Ivanishvili, but I prefer to be punished rather than rewarded for wrong steps", - said the Speaker.

According to him, large financial resources were spent by the Georgian Dream in the Saburtalo district, where he was a majoritarian candidate.

"Rigging means that they give you only 10 votes while you got 80, but there are simple methods as well - for example, when a party has a thousand laris for the elections and spends one third of it only in one precinct instead of equally distributing it.

Any competition means that you may be defeated. I was ready for it - in fact this has not weakened me. On the contrary, I have now more energy, enthusiasm, responsibility and will continue active political life”, he said.

According to him, people regard the Republican Party as a distant relative and it is necessary to establish closer relations with them.

"The campaign, carried out against us over the years, has labeled us and our answer that it's not true, was not enough. Ivanishvili also got involved in the campaign, saying that the Republicans are fighting against cultural values ... we must break these incomprehensible stereotypes - people today regard us as distant relatives, and we have to become their close relatives by less narcissism and healthy ambitions", - said Davit Usupashvili.
