The second round of parliamentary elections began this morning. The first-past-the-post voting will be conducted in 50 constituencies throughout Georgia, 18 among them in Tbilisi.

According to the International Republican Institute’s long-term observation mission report, citizens loitering outside polling stations created the impression of voter intimidation on 8 October.

Transparency International – Georgia has prepared recommendations for all parties involved in the second round of elections.

"It is important once again to clearly explain the rules and procedures for the conduct of elections, including through providing additional written instructions.

Davit Bakradze, one of the leaders of the National Movement, has addressed citizens ahead of the second round of elections. As he stated at a press conference today, tomorrow's voting will determine whether there will be one-party ruling in Georgia for the next 4 years.

According to the Georgian Young Lawyers' Association (GYLA), kindergarten and school teachers in Tbilisi and regions, as well as public servants, have been instructed not to circle their choice on the election ballot tomorrow but to put it in a square and to take video of it.

The National Movement activists call socially vulnerable people and tell them that they had been deprived of social assistance, - Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia majoritarian candidate Irakli Sesiashvili told IPN.

The National Movement says that an incident took place between several representatives of the National Movement and the Samtskhe-Javakheti Governor in Akhaltsikhe. The mentioned information was reported on Rustavi 2 TV by National Movement member Elene Khoshtaria.

A Member of National Movement Mikheil Machavariani plans to leave politics for at least next four years.

As he has told IPN, he remains an active supporter and a member of the party but suspends political activity for a while.

The British and the Netherlands Embassies will be observing the Second Round of Georgia’s Parliamentary Elections on 30 October.

British Ambassador Justin McKenzie Smith underlined the importance of the electoral process in further strengthening Georgian democracy and urged people to go and vote in the run-offs on 30 October.
