The project Catalogue of The Georgian Political Parties
Donor: International Republican Institute (IRI)
The project activities:
- Publishing a catalogue Political parties of Georgia prior to 1999 parliamentary elections containing information on Georgian political parties in Georgian and English;
- Collecting and publishing information on local self-government representative bodies - councils, elected in 1998, November 15 local self-government bodies elections.
In order to fully represent a specter of political parties all 124 parties registered at the Ministry of Justice were included in the catalogue.
Data on 125 (Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi, Poti, Roustavi, 60 districts, 60city and town) councils are included in the catalogue.
English version of the catalogue was mainly disseminated among international observers visiting Georgia through EU mission; and the Georgian version - among political parties, mass media, NGOs, self-governing bodies and interested individuals.
The project Efficient Monitoring System For Parliament Elections

- Publishing second, revised edition of manual for majority system candidates observers and party members of electoral commissions How to Observe Elections. A Guidebook for Political parties;
- Carrying out a cycle of seminar-trainings for political parties' observers.
The project Local Councils Development Program

The project activities:
- A cycle of trainings for members of 12 district councils.
Trainings were held for the members of Zestaphoni, Kharagauli, Vani, Bagdati, Samtredia, Lanchkhuti, Mtskheta, Gardabani, Khashuri, Kareli, Gori, Kaspi district and city councils.
The following issues were discussed while trainings: organizing council work, law on local self-government and government; law on council members' status and public relations.
The project Support of Gender and Women Issues Programs Implementation in Georgian Universities

In the limits of the project the concept of gender and women issues teaching in Georgian Universities has been worked out by the specialists working on the very issues.
For this reason information on women issues teaching courses in Western Universities was collected, information materials were prepared and distributed among the workshop participants. At the same time information from Georgian Universities on gender and women issues teaching and research was collected through questionnaire application to 20 specialists from TSU, department of psychology, Institute of Psychology, Pedagogical University, Medical University, and other Universities. The following information has been obtained: all Georgian lecturers and researchers contact data, experience, qualification and interests in the sphere, gender and women issue courses, publications, projects implemented, study development needs of the researchers, researchers connections with women movement, their attitude towards practical activity for women rights protection.
The materials obtained have been analyzed and prepared for publication.
2 workshops were held to work out a concept of gender and women issues teaching at Georgian Universities, 20 researchers participating in each. Final version of the concept was worked out, ways of the concept outreach and dissemination were designed.
The project was a first trial to collect and analyze the existing situation at Universities of Georgia from the point of view of women and gender issues teaching.
The project: Georgian Edition of ODIHR Guidebook for Observing elections.

The guidebook was disseminated among political parties, non-government organizations, and electoral commissions.
