Davit Usupashvili – Georgian Dream managed to win elections without Bidzina Ivanishvili’s support
The Georgian Dream coalition managed to win elections without Bidzina Ivanishvili’s support - the Speaker of the Parliament Davit Usupashvil stated with Imedi TV, on the program ‘’Time for Politics’’.
According to Usupashvili , Georgian Dream gained its significant victory in the elections. ‘’We received unprecedented support, when administrative resource did not exist for one party. Media was free and what’s most important – Georgian Dream held the elections without Bidzina Ivanishvili, we have not heard even a word from him to support Georgian Dream. Correspondingly, the elections were a serious test for the coalition, as during the previous parliamentary and presidential elections, Bidzina Ivanishvili as a factor was very serious and it means that the coalition, the political team managed to win the elections without Bidzina Ivanishvili’s support,’’ – Usupashvili said.
The Speaker of the Parliament talked about voter activity and explained the low rate with a few reasons. ‘’We cannot say simply that people did not come and we can do nothing. In my opinion, there are several reason for it; first, the Georgian government has not conducted any measures to use administrative resources to attract people to the elections; second, opposition parties received their maximum. A serious part of the people has not participated in the elections for whom there is no acceptable political subject expect ‘’Georgian Dream,’’ but sent us a very significant message that they expect more from us. That’s why the support, expressed in the election results, is very serious for us. It is optimal for us that we should do our business well and should not have a sense of self-satisfaction. This is not a protest from my point of view, but – a of kind warning,’’ – Usupashvili stated.
