People unconditionally trust the Georgian Dream, but at the same time, they indicate at the need for more and better work, Parliament Speaker Davit Usupashvili said on Imedi TV while evaluating the election results.
He said that people cannot see a better alternative of the current government, but indicate that no one and nothing is permanent in this country and more work is needed.
"This election has not given us an opportunity for any kind of euphoria. If we had won everywhere with 70-80%, it would have negatively affected our performance. Yesterday we saw that people are watching us carefully," said the Speaker.
According to him, he expected more turnout in the local elections. "I expected more turnout. Municipal elections are characterized with low turnout around the world. Therefore, on the one hand, the relatively low turnout was conditioned by this fact. I thought that the turnout would have been between the last presidential and parliamentary elections. In the 2012 parliamentary elections 66% of voters came to polls, while in the presidential elections 46% of voters arrived. Now it is about 44%. I was expecting 47-48% of voters to come. I want to emphasize that voters should have free will to come to polls and make their free choice", he said. According to him, in the second round there will be a very serious turnout because specific issues are to be resolved.
Usupashvili said that overall he was satisfied with the elections and the election process.
